Dr. Kristin Bussey-Smith

Dr. Bussey-Smith is a specialist in the fields of Allergy, Immunology & Rheumatology. Her educational background includes graduating 2nd in her class from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Social Work, and graduating in the top 10% of her medical school class from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She was elected to the National Medical honor society, Alpha-Omega-Alpha, in 2000, and went on to complete her Internal Medicine training at the University of Kentucky. She received several awards during her residency, including: "Best Intern Team Player" and

"Best Morning Report Presentation."  Additionally, she was honored with the Resident of the Year Award for “Exemplary Professional Attributes of an Internist”  which was presented by the Kentucky Chapter of the American College of Physicians/ American Society of Medicine (ACP/ASIM).  After completing her Internal Medicine training, Dr. Bussey-Smith pursued additional knowledge and skills through the dual fellowship program in Allergy, Immunology & Rheumatology at Baylor College of Medicine, where she served as Chief Fellow and participated in teaching, national meetings, and research.  Since beginning her private practice, Dr. Bussey-Smith has been honored by her peers. From 2012-2016, Dr. Bussey-Smith was named by her peers to the TEXAS MONTHLY Texas Rising Stars and SuperDoctors®. In 2016 & 2017 she was included in the list of S.A. Doctors and Dentist Best in San Antonio Scene Magazine.

 

Although Dr. Bussey-Smith has accumulated honors & awards during her career what she finds most rewarding is helping others.  She enjoys building relationships with her patients, providing compassionate care, and serving God through her talents as a physician.
